Tender Loving Empire
http://www.tenderlovingempire.com
In 2005 Tender Loving Empire was founded by Brianne and Jared Mees on a road trip around the western U.S. It was initially intended as both a way to release Jared’s recordings as well as a creative conduit for friends and family to release their music, comics, fiction and etc . During the first 3 years TLE released comics, works of fiction and musical albums all in a distinct hand silkscreened, individually numbered, limited edition fashion. In 2007, TLE opened its first store in NW Portland, OR in an attempt to provide an ecosystem for all types of creative output including clothing, fine art prints, jewelry, accessories, comics and local music. Meanwhile they began to focus their labels attention and resources specifically on musical releases, having gained some traction with local record stores and a handful of releases by local bands. in 2010, the store moved to a more prominent location in downtown PDX, becoming home to the art and craft of over 300 different local artists, crafters and musicians. At the same time, the label began to increase its output and reach in and around the Northwest US, signing up-and-coming Portland acts Typhoon, Y La Bamba and Loch Lomond , while continuing to focus on high quality aesthetics, innovative packaging and cutting edge promotional and marketing techniques . In 2012, TLE will release its 35th title, the 5th installment of its yearly, limited edition, hand silkscreened 2 disc compilation Friends and Friends of Friends.

The Noise Company
https://www.thenoisecompany.com
"The Noise Company Cares" is the motto artist Ben Kweller uses to describe the label he founded after a long and successful career with ATO Records. The focus of The Noise Company was to create a self-contained outlet for his music as well as the music of artists he loves. The first exclusive release by The Noise Company was Kweller’s 2012 Go Fly A Kite. With an extreme focus on recording and production, The Noise Company also places a huge emphasis on high quality packaging and consumer experience. The art direction given to Go Fly A Kite, by Liz Kweller earned the LP a Grammy Nomination in 2012. While up against major label campaigns, The Noise Company proved that there is still room for boutique labels in a major arena. The Noise Company are big supporters of the Austin music scene and have plans to release music from the Music Capitol in the near future.

Thirsty Ear
http://www.thirstyear.com/
Established in the late 70s as an independent marketing company, Thirsty Ear pioneered the concept of specialized marketing to the yet-unnamed alternative music world in the US. In the mid 80s, it partnered with English labels 4AD and Beggars Banquet. In 1990, Thirsty Ear made its emergence as a record label of its own, quickly accelerating its position and becoming one of the top alternative independent labels within the US. A unique partnership with 2.13.61 Records, the label founded by punk legend Henry Rollins, led unexpectedly to Thirsty Ear's relationship with jazz iconoclast Matthew Shipp, who would go on to become the Artistic Director of a new line of recordings called the Blue Series. The concept of the Blue Series was born from Thirsty Ear's desire to marry jazz's many languages into a cogent new one and perhaps shake up what was, and to a certain extent still is, a stagnant musical climate.
